Le Marche Wines Achieve Excellence in Wine Making

The best of Le Marche Wines received awards at the annual
tastings of the Papillon Club of Italy and have served to
highlight an excellent array of white and red wines from Le
Marche in the central region of Italy especially from
Azienda Agricoa Vini Maravglia.

For the eighth consecutive year the members of the Papillon
Club, a nationwide institute seeking excellence in the food
and wine industry have included Le Marche wines in the Top
Hundred best wines of Italy.

With members situated in all regions of Italy, Le Marche
has three offices in Ancona, Pesaro and Ascoli Piceno that
organize and search for excellence in the field of food and
wine.

For this year, the regions' most rewarded were Campania
and Sardinia with a special recommendation for brands in Le
Marche region, demonstrating yet again an marked
improvement in the quality of the regions' red wines
exemplified by growers like Maraviglia a producer of
Verdicchio di Matelica and reds from Colli Marche.

In fact, the year's Golosaria award for outstanding
achievement from Le Marche region was given to this small
but specialised wine maker together with Vini Belisario of
Matelica.

From these two producers the wines receiving awards were
the Eno label from Belisraio Wines and the Onorio labelfrom
Maraviglia Wines. Both produce wine in the Matelica region
of Le Marche in central Italy.

The wine making efforts of both wineries has served to
boost other producers' passion to introduces new grape
varietes and blends for 2010 year. New blends include
Lacrima grape variety with Sangiovese, Aged Merlot for more
intensity and the introduce of sparkling rose from the
Sangiovese grape varieties.

Le Marche wines has been famous for their Verdicchio grape
variety but Matelica has always been in the shadow of its
neighbour Jesi that produces wine from the same grape under
the DOC name of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. This
Verdicchio di Jesi has been succesfully commercialized
worldwide but now the producers of Matelica are fighting
back by producing excellent red wines to overshadow their
neighbours in the red wine segment.

The Eno and Onorio labels and others from the top 100
winners can be tasted from 7 to 9 November at the Melia
Hotel & Convention Center in Milan, then from 14th and 15th
of November in Turin at the Piazza Crafts.

The award ceremony of the Golosaria to Maraviglia Wines
will take place in Milan on 7 November 2009 among other
