Dior designer shows first 'pret-a-porter'

Paris fashion house, Christian Dior, showed its first ready-to-wear collection under the reigns of Raf Simons, since the sacking of John Galliano, and laid down the gauntlet for YSL's new creative director

PARIS, FRANCE - Rapper, Kanye West, model Ines de La Fressange, and Inglorious Basterds actress, Melanie Laurent were among Dior's guests to see the unveiling of the first ready-to-wear collection under the stewardship of Raf Simons on Friday (September 28)

The Belgian designer was appointed creative director earlier this year, succeeding John Galliano, who was sacked over a racist outburst in 2011.

Simons' show was widely considered among the most highly-anticipated events of the fashion season along with Yves Saint Laurent, which will also see the debut collection from new designer, former Dior Homme creative director, Hedi Slimane.

The looks presented at Dior were minimalist, including a razor-sharp black tuxedo jacket paired with cigarette pants - an homage to Christian Dior's iconic "Le Smoking" suit.
