Facial steaming causes the skin to sweat and it also gives
your skin a deep cleanse, loosen's dead skin and removes
dirt. Your skin will look fresher, brighter and more
youthful.
Be careful if you have capillaries & veins on you cheeks
especially when steaming. You can protect them by placing a
small amount of honey on your cheeks or veined area. Keep
about 12 inches from the steam and only steam once every two
weeks. If you have oily skin you would benefit from steaming
up to twice a week.
Tap water is fine, but purifies water is best because it is
chlorine free. You can do this by leaving a bowl of water
exposed to the air for about 24 hours before you use it to
evaporate away the chlorine.(Gases from chlorine can be
harmful).
Steaming Instructions:
Have a shower cap and large towel handy and heat proof pad
or another towel for the table.
1. Wash or cleanse your face and put your shower cap on.
2. place 1-2 litres of boiling water in to a bowl on a heat
proof pad on the table.
3. Drop 2-3 drops of essential oil on the surface of the
water and quickly form a tent with the towel over the bowl
and your head. (you can use one or more type of essential
oil)
4. Make sure your face is around 20cm (12inches) away from
the steam, Relax and take some time out for about
5-10minutes, by this time all the deep grime would have
floated to the surface.
5. Splash your face with cool water (not cold) and finish
with a tone and nice moisturizer.
Oils For Oily Skin:
2 drops of juniper oil
4 drops of lemon grass oil
4 drops of lemon oil
4 drops of peppermint oil
4 drops thyme oil
3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
(Mix all the ingredients together and put into a small 5oml
bottle) use 1 teaspoon for every steam treatment)
Oily skin types get great results from masks and steaming
regularly, with the right skin care products and proper
care, skin beauty can be achieved. This treatment will help
to reduce pimples, blackheads and help in achieving a
smoother more radiant complexion.
Try using different essential oils whilst steaming, lavender
and ylang ylang is great for calming, black pepper & ginger
is a great for energy as well as peppermint. Vanilla smells
great and if you combine geranium, rose and lavender
together you get a beautiful floral scent. These are all
beneficial for your skin and put you in different moods.
