G-Star rocks Berlin Bread & Butter.
BERLIN, GERMANY (JULY 07, 2010) REUTERS - The denim label G-Star kicked off the string of fashion shows at this year's Bread & Butter trade fair in Berlin on Wednesday (July 7). With an array of international models presenting denim, beach and casual wear, visitors experienced a unique show that will only be repeated once at this year's New York Fashion Week.
"Tonight's show is the first show with international models" G-Star export manager Axel Schukies told Reuters. "The show will only be shown in Berlin today and next time at New York Fashion Week only. It is a good mix between dynamics and the product." "We will be showing a lot of washed materials, new silhouettes and a lot of clothes in a sort of 3D-visual appearance, the G-Star 3D denims."
All about comfort is the Australian shoe label Bloch: Since the 1930s, the label has been dedicated to creating point shoes for ballet dancers that would not kill their feet. Flats, say Bloch CEO Guy Rapp, came as a natural extension:
"The passion is about dancers, all kind of dancers in all parts of the world. And as a natural extension to the point shoe business came ballet flat shoes, tap dance shoes, This segment of flat ballet shoes is quite a new story, we only started a few years ago but we use for these flat shoes the exact same technology we use for our point shoes. This is a unique technology. We called the turned shoe. Only machines that can do point shoes can do this technology."
Today, Bloch claim they produce the most comfortable flat ballet shoes there are.
The German capital's fashion trade show, located for the third time on the old airfield, will be once again drawing plenty of buyers and exhibitors to scout for and show off the 2011 streetwear trends.
As an international specialist fair for Street- and Urbanwear, Bread & Butter is a marketing opportunity for brands, labels and designers from the areas of Denim, Sportswear, Street Fashion, Function Wear and Casual Dressed Up. It takes place twice a year and returned to the German capital after a four year stint in Barcelona. This season's B&B runs from July 7-9, 2010.
The 7th Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is also kicking off in Berlin on Wednesday, featuring labels such as Calvin Klein, Boss Black and many more.
