This season's fashion for women is something to get excited
about. It's bringing back some goodies and adding some very
modern and funky twists to them.
1. Retro:
The 1960's-70's American suburbian look is all the rage and
there's no better place to find inspiration then watching
ABC's hit show Mad Men. From flower prints, to flared
skirts these looks accentuate a tiny waist, full hips, and
big breasts. Designers around the world are celebrating
womens curves. Prom dresses should be paired with feminine
accessories like elbow-length gloves.
2. For the Outdoors:
Autumn is here which means it's time to bundle up in a new
coat, big sweaters, and possibly some platform, lace-up
boots. This season shearling is back and can be found lining
coats, hoods, boots and bags.
3. Equestrian chic:
A predominant mode for AW 10-11, this look includes browns,
tweeds, curduroy, plaid, and mohair. For an affordable
version visit Zara.
4. Chic in Black:
There has yet to be a year when black is not in style. A few
seasons ago the Audrey Hepburn look - cigarette pants and
flat loafers- came back and it doesn't seem to have gone
anywhere. For a more feminine flair, pair with heels or a
blousy top.
5. Schoolgirl:
For those of us who long for our schoolgirl days, the wait
is finally over. Kilts, sweaters, and capes are back. While
the sun still shines you can wear your kilt bare legged with
loafers. Pair with tights and heeled boots for a warmer, Liv
Tyler, Empire Records version of the style.
6. Wollen Skirts:
Remember the ones you used to wear as a little girl? Well
it's time to bring them back out of your closet (if you're
lucky/clever enough to have held onto to them). It's a great
item to wear to a casual Christmas party, to work on a
winter's day, or maybe out ice skating. Perfectly matched
with blushed cheeks.
7. Over the knee socks:
Tall Vivienne Ward boots were all the rage last year and now
tall socks have taken their place. But not just any tall
socks, woollen, and detailed ones specifically.
8. Boots:
I cannot stress the importance of high, lace-up platform
boots enough for complete AW 10 look . They are this
season's hottest boot and can be worn with everything from
skinny jeans to flirty dresses. And for the best comeback of
all- 8-hole Doc Martin's. Slowly and surely people have been
revisiting this trend and buying popular colours such as
brown and maroon. A similar style is the beat up
construction boot, which All Saints are doing really well
this year.
9. African Textiles:
The truth is these never go out of style. There's nothing
that says boho better then a unqiue and colourful kikoy that
can be wrapped around your neck or slung over your shoulder
and used as a bag.
Follow these trends and you will be stylish beyond belief
for AW 2010. Happy shopping!
