Tribal influences at Paris Galliano show

Tribal influences are king of the jungle at John Galliano's Paris show for his own label.

PARIS, FRANCE (MARCH 7, 2010) JOHN GALLIANO HANDOUT - Dior designer John Galliano's tribal-themed show for his own label at Paris Fashion Week could not have been more different to his romantic collection for the iconic French label.
But the theatrics were as present as ever, with a spirited tribal soundtrack, a burning flame on the catwalk and Galliano appearing in a chieftain outfit at the end. The designer's notes described the show thus: "A tribe of adventuring Galliano nomads trek through a mountainous terrain in search of a new land."

Models appeared on the catwalk under a shower of silver sequins, wearing heavily layered outfits featuring skirts and dresses over harem pants, and finished with large hats and hair accessories. The ethnic influence was clear in the use of colour and detail, both embroidered and sequinned, while fur featured frequently - useful, no doubt, for those mountainous conditions.
