NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES (JUNE 03, 2010) -Kylie Minogue hosted amfAR's Inspiration Gala, celebrating men's fashion and honouring Grammy-winning recording artist and philanthropist Ricky Martin, along with famed French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier.
Kenneth Cole, the organization's chairman and other supporters for the fashion foundation's AIDS research gathered at The New York Public Library.
"It's a great turnout," said Australian pop star Minogue.
"Amazing bunch of people and I feel very honoured to have this role tonight."
Longtime supporter Jean-Paul Gaultier, who has done fashion shows for amfAR in the past, says that raising awareness and money for research are paramount.
"It's something we have to fight," said Gaultier.
"And it is still there and still people are dying and some don't take any protection still."
Barney's creative director Simon Doonan donned a white suit jacket, covered with celebrity signatures that will auction to raise money for the foundation.
Minogue, Martin and Gaultier posed for dozens of cameras and photographers wearing Inspiration's 2010 design theme, "Black Tie / Black Leather."
Minogue recently returned to the music scene with her new single, "All the Lovers." Her entire album "Aphrodite" will be released June 6, but the pop star says she won't be touring until next year. It is the singer's first album since "X" in 2007 and her 11th studio album overall.
Her music video "All the Lovers" features a racy street seen with Minogue floating atop a mass of men and women.
"Yes, it's a sexy video and all of that, but it's actually very beautiful and that's what people seem to be responding to," said Minogue.
Minogue states that she has worked closely with Jean-Paul Gaultier.
"He's designed my tour costumes and actually the outfit I wear on my 'Aphrodite' cover is Jean-Paul Gaultier Couture and what I'm wearing in 'All the Lovers' video," said Minogue.
"So actually it's been very J-P-G- recently."
The amfAR's fashion show featured some of Gaultier's designs, one of which was worn by Minogue's Spanish model boyfriend, Andres Velencoso Segura.
Latin pop star Ricky Martin, who recently announced he was gay, was presented with an award for philanthropy, along with Gaultier for his longtime support of amfAR and contributions to the men's fashion world.
