Make-up artist breaks a record for the most lipstick applications in a single hour

Ladies line up in Chicago to help set a new lipstick world record.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES (JUNE 4, 2010) ESTEE LAUDER - 303 women puckered up to help make-up artist Rick DiCecca set a new Guinness World Record for 'Lipstick Application.'
Estee Lauder Global Makeup Stylist, Rick DiCecca, applied lipstick on the participants to successfully break the previous record of 180 applications.

The feat was witnessed by an official Guinness World Records Adjudicator, Danny Girton, who verified that the attempt adhered to the strict guidelines of the record category and presented

DiCecca with a certificate documenting his new world record.

"I feel great about breaking the record,' said DiCecca. "I wasn't sure, till we got to the 180 mark, and then I really got my stride and I was home free."

Guidelines for the record category were strict and stated that the lipstick must be applied consistently on the lower and upper lip of each model and the color must be within the lip lines. A different lipstick for each model had to be used although any variety and color of lipstick was permitted.

The record attempt kicked off at approximately 12:00 pm for exactly sixty minutes and was followed by the official certificate presentation by the Guinness World Records judge.

Danny Girton, Guinness World Records adjudicator, said this was one of the more lively record breaking events he had covered in his career.

"This one, because of the energy, enthusiasm and the fun that everybody had, this ranks up there with the most memorable, and I am really glad that Rick set the record," said Girton.

Jacqueline Masek, one of the participants, was thrilled to be part of the event.

"I am super excited. I think its really fantastic that Macy's is doing this and especially that Estee Lauder is doing this," said Masek. "One of my ladies at the counter, Dolly called me up and asked me if I wanted to be a part of history and I said, 'yes, what do I have to do to be a part of it.'"

The previous record of 180 applications was set by a European makeup artist in Madrid, Spain, on March 3rd of this year.
