Italian fashion house Prada has been inspired by 50's looks as it shows its new collection in Milan.
MILAN, ITALY (SEPTEMBER 22, 2011) (PRADA HANDOUT - Italian fashion house Prada took inspiration from 50s looks and cars for its Milan's spring/summer 2012 womenswear show on Thursday (September 22)
Miuccia Prada, considered as one of the world's few trend-setters, created a sweet femininity for next summer.
Models walked among foam cars in soft blue and red colours on a reinvented catwalk at the fashion house headquarters.
The car motif, the signature of the collection, was on the back of leather pencil skirts and of rounded soft jackets.
Open-toed shoes had leather flames on their high heels to add glamour and sexiness.
Round-shouldered coats were decorated with wooly roses for a romantic woman.
Small tops left the skin exposed and were paired with high-waist skirts.
Pleats, another key feature of the collection, added movement to skirts and dresses.
Hems were just below or above the knee. Chaste 1950s swim suits completed the collection.
Prada worked a palette of yellow, beige, blue and red, with some prints inspired by comic books as it was seen at her menswear's show in June.
Among accessories, Prada unveiled a new double-handled bag in another tribute to the 50s.
