Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana stitched baroque motifs for their opulent romantic 2012 autumn-winter collection here in Milan on Sunday (February 26)

British actress Helen Mirren, best known for her acclaimed leading role in The Queen movie, was among the top guests of the show.

Italian actress and fashion muse Monica Bellucci also glammed up the VIP front row.
Dolce & Gabbana mixed golden embroideries with prints of little cherubs inspired by Baroque paintings for their first womenswear season without the D&G line.

Capes of different lengths were the must-have of the collection, and had rich golden embroideries at the hems. They were worn over lace dresses in black or white.

Shoulders were round or sharper but always well defined. Skirts were often below the knee.
Some dresses had prints recalling tapestry motifs. Lace-up shoes were paired with lace socks.
Cherubs returned in the earrings, while headbands and small combs for the heair where enriched with stones and embroideries.

The grand finale saw black lace dresses enhanced by golden embroideries, and coupled with Miss Sicily and Dolce bags
